The Portuguese Army will adopt the GLOCK G17 Gen5 as its new service weapon. As part of a tender launched earlier this year through the Nato Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), GLOCK competed against several other brands and was selected at the end of July 2019. The chosen G17 Gen5 is ideal for both left and right-handed individuals with its reversible magazine button and ambidextrous slide lock. They are equipped with the GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB) for enhanced precision, feature the Gen5 trigger system, have serrations on the slide, and a GLOCK luminous rear sight with phosphorescent inserts.
