The new six-wheeled model "POLARIS MRZR Alpha 6×6" not only offers more mobility but also higher load capacity. With a curb weight of 4,200 pounds (about 2 tons), it can carry 3,600 pounds (1.63 tons) of cargo for a total weight of 7,800 pounds (3.54 tons). This is phenomenal compared to the standard MRZR Alpha with 4x4 drive, which has a load capacity of 600 pounds (about 272 kg). This increased capacity is achieved by adding a third axle, making the MRZR only about 28 cm longer than the standard model. This combines the maneuverability of the two-seat version with the climbing ability of the four-seat model. The handling on soft ground, mud, and swamps is said to be even better than the 4x4.
The larger space and higher load capacity, combined with payload leveling suspension, open up a whole range of new uses for the MRZR:
The MRZR Alpha 6×6 vehicles have already been delivered to the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab for further evaluation and testing.
