Pistols: US Army seeks Laser Light Module

The US Army is seeking a Laser Light Module (LLM) for M17 and M18 pistols in the Modular Handgun System (MHS). Two devices, one from LaserMax Defense and one from Streamlight, are being considered and will be tested this summer. The chosen device must meet tender criteria, fit the budget, and be compatible with night vision devices, including infrared support. The US Army is looking for a Laser Light Module (LLM) for their M17 and M18 pistols, which make up the Modular Handgun System (MHS). This is, of course, not as simple as it is for civilians. Tender criteria must be met, and it must also fit within the budget.

However, it has already been narrowed down to two devices. One of them is the one from LaserMax Defense, the Pistol Enhancer (LMD-PE-IR-1). An image of this on the M17 pistol from Sig Sauer has now surfaced: In addition to typically white light and, of course, a laser, the devices must also be compatible with night vision devices and therefore support infrared.

Another device was sent to the Army by Streamlight, which one exactly is not quite clear. Both will be tested this summer to make further decisions. A holster is also still being sought to then accommodate the weapon and the future weapon light.
