Photo File: Toy Soldier vs. VGC NJPC

The two common replicas of the Crye NJPC on the market are currently Toy Soldier (left) and VGC (right). We have already presented both carriers in individual reviews: HERE Toy Soldier and HERE VGC. But how do they compare together? We brought them together and show you the details (Click on all images to enlarge):

Take a look at the color difference in all photos. We prefer the AOR1 color of the Toy Soldier NJPC (left). VGC (right) looks a bit pale.

Comparison of the shoulder pieces: notice the difference in 4-way stretch with the covers. Toy Soldier (left) uses (still) rubber with embedded fabric, a lightweight and sturdy way to copy these specific shoulder pieces. VGC, on the other hand, works with the original material Hypalon, which is usually used for inflatable boats.

Notice the color difference. But above all, look at the seams. VGC (right) clearly takes the lead in this area and is better sewn.

The MOLLE fabric is very different and Toy Soldier (left) is much better here. VGC has sewn a too rigid strip into the MOLLE of the AirLite cummerbund, making it somewhat inflexible. The Toy Soldier cummerbund fits better in comparison to the real one.

The buckles for the straps on the carrier, which are used when the cummerbund is not attached. VGC at the top has tan, Toy Soldier has a mysterious bronze.

Interior view: Color-wise, Toy Soldier (right) is clearly better.
