SOCOM is searching for a new amphibious suit for cold-water operations to keep soldiers dry and safe. The Maritime Assault Suit System by Mustang Survival features a unique design with waterproof cuffs, integrated padding, and a convenient front zip for quick access.
When coming out of the water, you don't necessarily want to get wet. Especially when the landing occurs in colder temperatures, the body must stay dry, otherwise it quickly becomes life-threatening. SOCOM is currently looking for a new amphibious suit, and this is likely the model that will be chosen. The Maritime Assault Suit System (MASS) is manufactured by Mustang Survival, which already has around 13,000 predecessor models in use by various US agency departments. In principle, these suits are a variant of a drysuit. It's just that you don't go scuba diving with them. You enter through the slanted cross-zip across the chest.
Pocket detail with drainage holes with mesh.
Padding is integrated at the knees and elbows as well as along the spine.
The cuffs: Neoprene makes them waterproof.
Unlike a drysuit, the MASS has a front cross-zip that is concealed but can quickly be opened when necessary for bathroom breaks during operations.
The collar (top left) has a self-sealing system but can also be quickly opened to allow air circulation in the suit. What keeps you insulated and protected from cooling in the water can quickly become too hot on land. Note the padded shoulders.
