After 2015, once again this year, the attention of the world's defense and security industry focused on the 13th International Defense Exhibition and Conference, IDEX, in Abu Dhabi, UAE. With the motto "Defense Technology for the Future," the exhibition set the direction for this year. Parallel to this, for the 4th time, the largest naval defense technology trade fair, NAVDEX, was also held. We, at SPARTANAT, provide you with an impression of the event. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, the over 1,200 international defense industry providers at this year's trade fair from February 19 to 23, showcased the latest technologies for the three-dimensional defense sectors of Land, Air, Sea. IDEX 2017 was once again a unique platform to build and strengthen direct contacts and relationships with government entities, military staff, and other companies. This year, over 100,000 visitors were counted. The Beast: KMW delivers Leopard 2AV in a Q-Edition to Qatar. Here at IDEX, it is already seen in full camouflage and attracted enough attention for the German area of the show. 120 mm smoothbore and optics that allow targets to be engaged at a distance of 5 km - that's German workmanship in the desert. KMW online: www.kmweg.de But others are catching up, and the Chinese can clone one thing: No coincidence that it looks like the front of an M109 self-propelled howitzer with more edges. At the back is the VT-4 tank from Norinco, which is exported as the MBT3000 and is based on the Type 90-II basic design. Otherwise, it is a nice example of copying Western technologies. A true classic: the Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle, battle-hardened in the original and in the Middle East, equipped with additional armor for the region's dangers. Since the first units were put into service in May 1981, a total of 6,785 units have been produced, making the Bradley one of the most produced infantry fighting vehicles in the world. The models have undergone several upgrades to keep them technologically up to date and to adapt them to the changed threat situation of the 21st century. You may also like this: the M777 155mm howitzer seems almost too big for the exhibition area... The M777 is a towed howitzer of British production with a caliber of 155mm. The manufacturer is BAE Land Systems. A real classic: the M-ATV has a small sign that says "Photography not allowed." That didn't stop our intrepid SPARTANAT reporter. The M-ATV is an air-transportable military off-road vehicle from the American vehicle manufacturer Oshkosh. It partially replaces the Humvee. Otokar is a manufacturer that almost comes from the region: HERE you can see what the Turks have to offer. Everything with four or more wheels is armored. IVECO must not be missing. HERE is the website: www.iveco.com No laser cannons, but jammers. In the Middle East, it is known from painful experience that anything armored can be effectively attacked with IEDs. If you disrupt the radio, you may have peace. Electronic warfare was a big field at IDEX. This is the material from which all soldiers are made. The DuPont booth sells the material from which the equipment is made. For example, Kevlar is at home here. Every fighter needs a knife. We found this little warrior at the EXTREMA RATIO booth.
