And the Leopard is already lost. The Polish Ministry of Defense has announced what the future of the Polish Armed Forces will look like. In short: While Germany is discussing some kind of "turning point," the Poles are making it happen. Just a few days ago, it was said that the Poles are ordering 180 Hyundai K2s, while getting hundreds of M1A1 Abrams and having 250 Leopards. Germans are worried about the chaos in the supply of spare parts and repairs, while this is a Korean tank revolution in Poland.
The solution: The Leopard is being phased out. The American Abrams tanks are an interim solution. And Hyundai is the big winner: Poland is really becoming Korean. Tanks, armored personnel carriers, and self-propelled artillery from Hyundai. According to the Polish goal, there will be 1,000 K2PL, with an option for K3PL. In addition, there will be 1,000-1,400 IFV Borsuks and an unknown number of Korean IFV Redbacks as heavy armored personnel carriers. The self-propelled artillery segment will also be Korean, with the option to jointly build a new one. Unification couldn't be more beautiful. What does "turning point" actually mean in Polish?

The Polish decision also massively changes the European armaments landscape. Hyundai has succeeded in pulling off a coup, turning a country in Europe for the first time – and apparently with all combat vehicles. Norway will be the next challenge, where the K2NO will compete against the Leopard for procurement. Poland will be a significant argument there.
