Pandur, M55S and M80A - The Slovenians in Ukraine

Slovenia delivered Pandur armored vehicles to Ukraine, armed with 40mm grenade or 12.7mm machine guns. This move signals a potential shift in Austria's neutrality policy. Slovenia also sent tanks, howitzers, and other defense equipment to Ukraine, as seen in recent photos.

The Slovenian government delivered 20 armored vehicles of the Pandur type to Ukraine under secrecy. The vehicles, called "Valukas" in Slovenia, are armed with 40mm grenade machine guns or 12.7mm machine guns. The Valukas have a considerable range, about 600 kilometers on the road and between 200 and 300 kilometers off-road. The Valuks are an integral part of a light infantry battalion that Slovenia has reinforced with JLTV-Oshkosh vehicles, known as "Perun" in Slovenia.

The delivery of the Pandurs to Ukraine is particularly politically significant, as the vehicle itself comes from Austria, meaning the government would have had to approve the delivery of the Pandurs to Ukraine. This could signify a change in Austria's strict neutrality policy.

So far, Slovenia has sent 28 M55S tanks (pictured above), 35 armored M80A tracked vehicles, 16 M2A1 howitzers, 20 HMMWVs (Humvees), and many other weapons and equipment for defense to Ukraine.

This is a recent photo from Ukraine, likely from the vicinity of Bachmut: a destroyed M80A - the Slovenian version of the BMP1, so to speak.
