P27IX by NITECORE

Finally, it's here, the brand new model from the NITECORE Precise series: the P27iX. The new flashlight was already introduced at IWA 2026, we reported on it. For those who don't want to mix up the numbers and letters: it's an upgrade of the P20 lamps. The "i" stands for the unique i-Series battery from NITECORE (more on that later). The "X" means that the P27iX has "Xtreme Performance." That sounds promising, but we will see if it develops as the creators envisioned. Before the launch on May 8, 2026, we received a prototype from NITECORE.DE. Thank you very much at this point!

The package includes a NITECORE P27iX complete with a 21700i battery (NL2155HPi), a spare O-ring, a lanyard, a pocket clip, a tactical holster (NTH20), an adapter for C123 batteries, a manual, and a lanyard that also serves as a charging cable.

NITECORE impresses with consistently high quality. The lamp body of the P27iX is made from high-quality 7075-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum with a military-grade HA III hard-anodized finish. The threads are smooth, the cover of the USB-C port flushes with the lamp, and impact resistance up to a fall height of 2 meters is guaranteed.

The flashlight features an anti-roll design. Thanks to this construction, the lamp does not fall off sloped or smooth surfaces onto the ground.

NITECORE uses four five-core M515S LEDs with a maximum light output of 5,000 lumens along with a smooth, clover-shaped reflector. The LEDs and the reflector are protected by an AR-coated glass lens. This arrangement is located under a strike ring bezel, which is a unique feature. Instead of relying on heavily ribbed structures, NITECORE uses high-strength silicon nitride ceramic beads for the strike ring bezel. These are embedded in a lightly ribbed bezel. The result is a cutting edge that shatters glass easily and safely, while still being smooth enough not to damage the pocket. The peak brightness is 46,320 cd, and the maximum range is 430 meters.

The M515S LEDs of the P27iX produce a neutral, pure white light beam with extremely low color deviation across all brightness levels. This resembles natural daylight and provides a natural viewing experience.

The operation of the P27iX is done through three switches located on the top of the device. The front switch, the SET switch, allows for very simple operation of the flashlight. In addition, there are status indicators for the battery (green LEDs) and the power level (blue LEDs), each divided into four levels.

With the SET switch, you can easily cycle through the four available brightness levels. Additionally, the switch is used to program the various functions.

The two switches at the back, on the other hand, allow for direct access to particularly bright or dim modes. Both switches have two levels. When fully pressed, the maximum is triggered. Available are a floodlight mode, a spot mode, and a mixed mode. This is similar to other NITECORE flashlights with multiple LED cores.

Four individually customizable settings. The round knob allows you to freely combine two brightness levels, offering efficient and intuitive operation in any mission and situation. Half press for low and medium brightness. Full press for high brightness and turbo mode. Both half-pressing and fully pressing the lower, flat trigger button can be configured independently. This allows for simple and seamless one-button operation. The switch can be configured as a light protection, a strobe, or a search light.

The ergonomic adaptation to the hand is very well executed, reflecting in the high user-friendliness. The grip design has been optimized for practical use and allows for a seamless transition between momentary and constant lighting without moving the thumb. The ergonomic thumb prevents the lamp from slipping from the hand under high pressure.

The NITECORE P27iX features a Rapid-Lock switch that can be engaged in a lock mode to prevent accidental activation. The device can be safely transported, for example, in a bag or pocket. The lock switch and the metal buttons are very well made.

NITECORE has integrated a solid flap for the USB port. Until now, NITECORE relied on rubber solutions. The USB port is now directly protected. 

The P27iX has an IP68 rating and is waterproof up to two meters deep. 

The charging cable is equipped as a lanyard with fast charging function via USB-C. When the battery level is low, the flashlight can be charged directly through the USB-C port, so no external charger is required. 

The Kevlar cord of the USB charging cable lanyard is attached to the carrying clip.

The idea of using a charging cable as a lanyard is brilliant. This way, you always have it with you. 

The package includes the NTH27 holster for the P27iX. The flashlight is securely held in the holster by two clasps.

The steel clamp on the back can be adjusted to belt widths of up to a maximum of 55 millimeters. Additionally, the holster is compatible with MOLLE/PALS.

Depending on need, the stainless steel clamp that holds the flashlight securely in place can be removed.

This flashlight offers two grip options, making it ideal for tactical use as well as daily duty use (Duty Grip). With the tactical grip, one can access Turbo, High/Mid, Low, as well as Lumin Shield, Strobe, and Search. With the Duty Grip, one can access the settings LOW, MID, HIGH, TURBO, and emergency light. 

The NITECORE P27iX comes with a rechargeable NL2155HPi battery from NITECORE with 5,500 mAh. Additionally, the P27iX is compatible with two CR123 batteries that can be used in the included battery magazine. This allows for a quick battery change in emergencies and provides additional convenience.

After being turned on, the green battery LEDs briefly light up and then display the remaining power. After three seconds, they go out. In this case, the LEDs indicate that the lamp has a charge state between 75 and 100 percent. In the “LOW” mode, a highly efficient constant current circuit ensures stable power delivery for up to 100 hours.

The NITECORE P27iX features three beam patterns: spotlight, floodlight, and mixed light. Using the brightness levels “LOW,” “MID,” “HIGH,” and “TURBO,” the beam can be individually adjusted. The spotlight (SPOT) is ideal for searching over long distances outdoors as well as for rescue operations. The floodlight (FLOOD) with a beam angle of 115° is suitable for close-range lighting in confined indoor spaces. It reduces glare effects on walls and improves search efficiency. The mixed light (MIXED) covers all operational requirements—from large area searches outdoors to operations in tight spaces. Selection and adjustment occur using the SET switch.

With 15 lumens, the lowest setting LOW of the P27iX is well suited as a close-range control light to preserve night vision or to work in tight spaces. In this application, the runtime is 100 hours. Range 14 meters.

The medium setting MID with 80 lumens is suitable for general tasks. It provides a clear overview of the surroundings and allows for safe navigation. Its runtime is 25 hours. Range 33 meters.

The next higher setting HIGH provides 400 lumens and a maximum runtime of 6 hours. Range 85 meters.

The TURBO mode with 1,500 lumens is particularly well-suited for distance. The runtime is 2.5 hours. Range 185 meters.

In the "SEARCH" mode, 2,500 lumens are available for quick scanning of the surroundings and good visibility. Maximum range 430 meters.

The highest brightness of 5000 lumens is achieved in LUMIN SHIELD and "STROB" mode.

CONCLUSION

The NITECORE P27iX is an extremely adaptable tactical flashlight with a brightness of 5,000 lumens. Its outstanding features include a three-button user interface, adjustable light distributions (Spot, Flood, and Mixed), as well as instant access to tactical light modes like Turbo and Lumen Shield. The excellent craftsmanship of the flashlight meets the waterproof and dustproof rating of IP68 (up to 2 meters depth) and thus offers exceptional resistance to scratches, wear, and impacts. Reliable performance is ensured even under demanding conditions. The NITECORE P27iX is equipped with an advanced temperature regulation module (ATR). During prolonged use, it automatically adjusts the output to prevent overheating damage. The P27iX is an excellent choice for law enforcement agencies, security professionals, and flashlight enthusiasts looking for high performance and comprehensive customization options. Although it is larger than a standard EDC (Everyday Carry) flashlight, its performance and versatile light distributions make it a highly capable companion for both work and leisure.
