Orientation at night: Cassiopeia and the North Star

03/07/2013By Redaktion

Finding the North Star with the help of the constellation Cassiopeia is a very easy way. Cassiopeia is the W in the night sky and therefore easy to remember. Another advantage is that Cassiopeia is visible almost all year round.

Once you have found Cassiopeia, you will quickly realize that the W is not quite symmetrical. This is important to know later! Connect the two outer stars with an imaginary line. Now at a right angle and you're heading towards the North Star.
