OMNIFLAGE Tarp

The OMNIFLAGE tarp from TACTICAL BEAR is a lightweight, double-layered camouflage solution designed to conceal users from both visible light and thermal imaging. Measuring 200 x 150 cm, it features a unique Vegetato pattern and practical design elements like a transport bag with MOLLE attachments, making it ideal for tactical situations.

Thermal imaging devices were only very sparsely available a few years ago and hardly present on the battlefield. Currently, they are everywhere, and the necessity to camouflage not only visually but also thermally is growing. Therefore, TACTICAL BEAR offers OMNIFLAGE, which is designed to conceal you from thermal imaging devices. We have taken a detailed look at their tarp.

Transport

This is how you get the OMNIFLAGE tarp: in a practical transport bag. This measures about 32 x 13 x 10 cm. If motivated, one can compress the tarp even further. The tarp with the bag weighs 570 g, making it lightweight. There is a small MOLLE Velcro field on the front.

The transport bag comes with a shoulder strap, which can also be removed.

A MOLLE/PALS attachment is available on the back.

The bag closes with a roll-top closure.

At the bottom, there is a small tab. This is meant to be held, allowing the tarp to be quickly retrieved from the bag.

Similar to the gas mask, the goal is to be quick in an emergency, so unbuckle, grab the tab and

sharply pull out the tarp.

The Tarp

The tarp itself is approximately 200 x 150 cm in size and features a beautiful Vegetato camouflage pattern.

It is actually double-layered. The OMNIFLAGE tarp consists of a printed nylon fabric on which an additional camouflage net is cut out.

The inside is simply green.

The outside of the tarp nylon is printed with a kind of Vegetato pattern.

Of course, a tarp cannot miss having loops for tensioning.

Additionally, it has large carrying handles made of webbing. These allow for quick grasping of the tarp, enabling you to quickly conceal yourself from prying eyes.

Quickly drop on the ground and the tarp thrown over, and you are gone.

Optical Camouflage

The Vegetato camouflage pattern might look a bit strange, but it conceals excellently. Even in the image at very close range, one is already hardly visible when crouched.

With the additional camouflage net, the body contours are perfectly broken up. Visually, OMNIFLAGE already camouflages very well, but how does it look through the thermal imaging device?

Thermal Camouflage

This is always a bit difficult to display, as the world looks a bit different through a thermal. In the picture, you see a person lying on the ground and next to them on the left, the OMNIFLAGE tarp. The leaves to the right also appear warm, which is due to the reflected sunlight.

Here is the same person with the OMNIFLAGE tarp draped over them. You can still recognize warm spots, but due to the camouflage net on the tarp, the thermal signature is also broken up and actually resembles the leaves beside it. From a greater distance, the difference would not be as pronounced, and one would blend in with the surroundings.

Heat naturally seeps through the tarp relatively quickly. However, as soon as a slight breeze comes up, it cools down again very rapidly. You can see this in the GIF above.

If you're wondering: "Where is he hiding?", here's the reveal.

At greater distances, the OMNIFLAGE tarp performs even better. In this case, it was about 30 meters.

Without the tarp, one is quite noticeable.

Conclusion

The OMNIFLAGE tarp from TACTICAL BEAR works very well. Despite its low weight, the tarp provides excellent camouflage in both visible light and thermal imaging. Thanks to special coatings and colors, the OMNIFLAGE tarp allows you to remain unseen.
