Oberland Arms presented its new Short Stroke Piston (SSP) system for the OA-15 at the IWA, featuring adjustable gas intake. The system uses a linkage to move the bolt carrier instead of redirecting propellant gases, resulting in a heavier front-heavy firearm with more moving parts. More details in Oberland Arms IWA 2014 brochure.
The Bavarian arms manufacturer Oberland Arms presented its new Short Stroke Piston (SSP) system for the OA-15 at the IWA. Like most such systems, the gas intake is adjustable. The principle is simple: instead of redirecting the propellant gases back into the receiver to move the bolt carrier rearward, a linkage is interposed. This means that the hot gases no longer enter the receiver, but on the other hand, the firearm becomes heavier and front-heavy, and there are more moving parts. More information can be found in the Oberland Arms IWA 2014 brochure!
