Der ANZAC Day (short for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) on April 25th is a national holiday in Australia, New Zealand, and Tonga. April 25th, 1915 marks the anniversary of the first military action by Australian and New Zealand troops, as well as soldiers from Tonga, in the First World War - the landing at Gallipoli (Gelibolu, Turkey). The Battle of Gallipoli resulted in significant losses among the Australian, New Zealand, and Tongan soldiers who were led in a joint force. Above you can see a comparison of how the gear has changed: from World War I 1914-1918 to Afghanistan 2013. The core remains the same: tough guys, the ANZACs!
