A brigade of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell was the first unit to be equipped with the new Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) systems of the US Army on March 28.
Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment received the first weapons from the NGSW program to prepare for New Equipment Training (NET) in April. NET is a comprehensive training program that prepares non-commissioned officers to facilitate further training throughout the company. Based on modernization plans, the Army will deliver NGSW systems to a National Guard armored brigade in May.
