NFM vs. MEHLER: Whose grid?

NFM AS has invested "a lot of time and resources in the development of its THOR ® vests - watch at the top of the opener - and developed a series of innovative products, such as the modular, scalable and convertible GRID carrier system, which enjoys protection of intellectual property in the EU and in other jurisdictions".

Mehler Vario System GmbH launched a product titled "Grid carrier" at the beginning of this year at a trade fair in Nuremberg - below: Screen from the Mehler homepage - which NFM believes violates the registered design rights of the Norwegian company.

"To protect its intellectual property," NFM said, it has initiated an infringement proceeding against Mehler before the Düsseldorf Regional Court (Case No. 14C O 29/2023) and requested a decision prohibiting Mehler from marketing and distributing the products in question throughout the European Union.

The court will decide whether Mehler's "Grid carrier" infringes on NFM's registered design, according to NFM AS.
