Heckler & Koch surprised us tonight with the news that there is a new assault rifle. Here is the extensive press release on SPARTANAT introducing the new weapon. We are pleased to introduce exclusively: the HK433:
Countless ideas, decades of know-how, and refined, field-tested solutions worldwide form the foundation of the pioneering weapon technologies from Heckler & Koch. Since the founding of the traditional company in the Swabian town of Oberndorf in 1949, the German value added share has been 100 percent. High-Tech Made in Germany!
In addition to the globally proven rifle families G36, HK416, and HK417, the HK433 now joins the product portfolio of the company as a fourth scalable assault rifle family. With this completely new development, Heckler & Koch once again emphasizes its claim to build the world's best assault rifles. Heckler & Koch already supplies many armies and branches of the NATO military with a standard assault rifle armament, including France (HK416AIF), Germany (G36), USA (US Marine Corps M27/HK416), Great Britain (SA80), Norway (HK416), Spain (G36), and Lithuania (G36). Numerous special forces of the Western world - including the US Special Forces, the Special Forces Command of the Bundeswehr (KSK), and government special forces (e.g. GSG9) - rely on rifles from Oberndorf. The HK433 is a modular assault rifle in the basic caliber 5.56 mm x 45, which combines the strengths and outstanding features of the G36 and HK416 assault rifles. Other calibers, such as 7.62 mm NATO (HK231), .300 Blackout, and 7.62 mm x 39 Kalashnikov (HK123) are conceptually considered, forming the basis of a family of weapons. The HK433 was developed to meet the increasingly complex challenges of asymmetrical conflicts in the broad spectrum of infantry and specialized forces operations. The HK433 guarantees full functionality and security - this applies under all climatic conditions and conceivable combat situations and intensities with intuitive handling, combined with the highest modularity, precision, and weapon safety.
The HK433 is an indirect gas pressure loader with a short-stroke gas piston system and a locked, form-optimized rotating bolt head. The monolithic upper housing made of high-strength aluminum has a continuous, precise sight rail according to NATO-STANAG 4694. All commercially available sighting devices and night vision attachments can be mounted at maximum length and low sight height. In addition, a maintenance-free and non-manipulable shot counter is installed in the housing. The weapon data can be transmitted and archived wirelessly. The integrated G36 bolt guide of the upper housing ensures consistently high functional reliability and weapon safety. Structurally, the bolt is based on that of the G36, but features a firing pin safety and self-lubricating sliding elements.
