On August 3, 2018, a procurement contract was signed between the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr and Elektroniksystem- und Logistik GmbH for a new unmanned aerial reconnaissance system for the Navy. Starting from the end of 2019, the unmanned reconnaissance system SKELDAR V-200 will be launched from the corvette class K 130 of the Navy. This was agreed upon by BAAINBw and ESG in early August in Koblenz. With this new helicopter drone, reconnaissance will be possible even beyond the range of the ship's own sensors.
"With this contract, we are strengthening the Navy with a significant unmanned imaging reconnaissance capability and laying the foundation for further steps," said Axel Hoffmann, Senior Technical Government Director at BAAINBw and project manager. The contract was signed with the main contractor Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH (ESG) and subcontractors UMS SKELDAR and Lürssen Shipyard.
The procurement includes an unmanned aerial vehicle system SKELDAR V-200, consisting of two unmanned aircraft as sensor carriers, the full integration of the system on the corvette of class K 130, a spare parts package, and the training of operators and maintenance personnel. HERE you can find more information about SKEDLAR V-200.
