Navy SEALs as combat swimmers

07/09/2010By Redaktion

Two US Navy SEALs navigate during their combat swimmer training on May 18, 2006 in murky water: The team always operates in pairs, with the swimmers possibly connected by a ten-meter line to avoid getting lost in poor visibility. The front diver holds the navigation board in his hand: it has a large compass, a clock, and a depth gauge mounted on it. Both combat swimmers wear the Woodland BDU over their (wet or semi-dry) diving suits to remain camouflaged in the water. They also have a Dräger rebreather in front of their chests, although the specific type is not recognizable in the photo. The black buoyancy compensator jacket is also visible, positioned around the neck and behind the rebreather.
