Na Bumm! Mortar towers for Pandurs

05/08/2024By Redaktion

Elbit Systems receives a contract worth approximately 53 million US dollars to deliver unmanned Crossbow turret mortar systems to a European customer.

Elbit Systems announced today that the company has been awarded a contract worth approximately 53 million US dollars by General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) for the delivery of the unmanned 120mm mortar system Crossbow Unmanned Turreted Soft Recoil for installation on the armored wheeled vehicle Pandur 6×6 APC for a European customer - it can be actively assumed that this concerns procurement in Austria, where mortar Pandurs are also planned. The contract has a duration of six years.

The Elbit Systems Crossbow provides high protection and survivability for the mortar crew, a short sensor-shooter range, and is capable of firing the first round in less than 30 seconds. The system has a maximum fire rate of ten rounds per minute with a sustained rate of fire of six rounds per minute. The system can fire a wide range of 120mm NATO ammunition, including the guided mortar ammunition Iron Sting, which has an effective range of up to 10 kilometers. The turret features a 360° panoramic view and does not require indexing.
