Far in the south of Florida, right next to the Kennedy Space Center, there is a police museum of a special kind: the American Police Hall of Fame & Museum. Certainly, there are many museums in the USA dedicated to the police, but this one has a special spirit for me. As a German, you are not usually spoiled with exhibitions honoring the police.
Surrounded by seemingly eternal blue skies, this museum offers a very comprehensive exhibition on American police work of the last 100 years or more in different rooms.
In addition to weapons, uniforms, and fast cars (of each era), objects from spectacular crimes are also exhibited.
What was particularly moving for me was the way in which police officers killed in the line of duty are remembered here. Dignified and with the necessary respect. This applies to both the humans and the service dogs (K9). Such a thing will not exist in Germany. A fact that made me think a lot. Capsarius Akademie has been working with police stations in Germany and internationally for many years.
