Mobile combat post for the Air Force modernized

12/20/2023By Redaktion

Following an extensive modernization commissioned by the Procurement Office of the Bundeswehr, the mobile deployable command post for air defense system has now been handed back to the Air Force.

The so-called Deployable Control and Reporting Centre (DCRC) is the only mobile command post in the Air Force operations control service and has been operating reliably for over 15 years. However, some components have become outdated over time. In order to bring the DCRC up to date with the current state of technological development, the core system, known as the combat management system, has now been completely renewed and is available to the Air Force in the latest generation for airspace surveillance.

The system consists of several containers with high-performance computer systems, which are compactly integrated, making it nearly equivalent in operational spectrum and complexity to a stationary command post. Due to its deployability, the DCRC can be used worldwide and is particularly suitable for initial and stabilization operations. With the DCRC, airspace can be monitored and air forces can be tactically controlled. In a threat situation, the command post also coordinates the tactical deployment of combat aircraft and anti-aircraft missiles.

The outstanding importance of the system for the Air Force is underscored by the planned deployment of the DCRC in the framework of the Reinforced Air Policing in the Baltic States (VAPB) from March to July 2024 as Germany's contribution to integrated NATO air defense in Estonia.
