In late September, Rheinmetall participated for the first time with its unmanned multipurpose vehicle "Mission Master" in ELROB. At the largest European trade show for military land robotics, Rheinmetall's Mission Master team now competed against other competitors. The versatile vehicle produced by Rheinmetall Canada impressed in the cargo version in the "Mule" category.

There were a total of six teams in this competition class. "Mules" are autonomous driving transport vehicles for heavy loads and equipment. Two scenarios had to be completed. The teams had 30 minutes each to cover an approximately 1,400m long distance with their Mule. Rheinmetall impressed in the first round, and the visitors were thrilled. After the completion of the second round, the positive result was confirmed: despite being a first-time participant in the competition, the Rheinmetall Mission Master dominated the comparison with 3151 points – nearly double the points of the second place (1,547 points) and a significant lead over the third place (167 points).

Here is a video of the device from the presentation at Eurosatory 2018.

The Mission Master: modular, adaptable, flexible – and an enhancement for soldier systems

The Cargo version of the Mission Master was first introduced to a larger audience at the Eurosatory trade show in 2018. This variant was developed to reduce the combat load of soldiers, contributing to faster mobility and higher efficiency. Rheinmetall's new robotic vehicle can be used in dangerous, hard-to-reach environments, which also enhances the survivability and protection of deployed soldiers.

The Mission Master can also be integrated with soldier systems such as Future Soldier - Extended System, Gladius 2.0, or Argus. In Rheinmetall's Infantry System, the Mission Master complements the group equipped with the Future Soldier - Extended System. Fully integrated with the dismounted fighting forces and the group vehicle, it not only relieves the soldiers' burdens but also the military leader.

The Rheinmetall Mission Master is characterized by extreme flexibility and can be adapted to a variety of applications through modular, quickly deployable configurations. This includes resupply, surveillance, protection, casualty evacuation, firefighting, CBRN reconnaissance, or communication relay. Speed, scalable autonomy, and proven high mobility in all terrains make the Mission Master a strong and reliable companion for the small combat team.
