Three systems from Milrem Robotics are on display at this year's IDEX.
The Type-X robotic combat vehicle is an integral part of mechanized units that can take on the most dangerous positions and offers equivalent or superior firepower and tactical utility compared to conventional infantry fighting vehicles. Thanks to Vegvisir's Mixed Reality Situational Awareness System, Type-X operators have access to a virtual 360-degree dome with EO/IR sensor fusion for near and medium-range visibility and the ability to engage targets in any situation.
In addition to a 30mm autocannon, the Type-X is equipped with Halcon's Hunter 2S launchers for Loitering Munitions. More information on the Type-X can be found HERE.
The other two robotic systems exhibited at IDEX 2023 are based on the unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) THeMIS, which has already been delivered to 16 countries, including 8 NATO members, and has proven itself during a 12-month deployment in Mali as part of Operation Barkhane.
The THeMIS Combat UGV provides highly precise direct fire support for maneuver units. With the self-stabilizing SCORPION Remotely Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS) from Saudi Advanced Technologies (Wahaj), advanced sensors, and a fire control system, the THeMIS Combat enables units to assess and engage the enemy from maximum distance, enhancing troop protection and survivability. Additional security is provided by the Spexer 2000 radar, which can track both small and slow-moving targets as well as fast maneuvering targets in a high clutter environment.
The THeMIS Observe is designed for tactical reconnaissance missions. The system includes a variety of sensors for day and night operations, an acoustic shot detector, smoke screen, and ground surveillance radar. Providing additional security is the deFNder® Light RWS from FN Herstal. The combination of these systems allows units to perform identification with multiple sensors on one platform and react faster to emerging targets.
