The Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) has selected Rheinmetall as the contractor for the conversion of additional parts of the Modular Medical Facilities (MSE). The total value of the contract is associated with a volume in the mid-single-digit million EUR range for the company.

The container X-ray systems included in the scope of the contract enable the capture of X-ray images of the entire human body in sitting, lying, and standing positions, as well as of the internal organs in the field of radiology. The currently used X-ray equipment no longer meets current technical standards and must therefore be replaced or regenerated in the future. The regeneration/new manufacturing is intended for the integration of new SIEMENS X-ray equipment (scanner and diagnostic station) including accessories and for their future operation inside the container. After integration, reliable operation for patient care according to German standards should be ensured and the future operation of the container in a unit of multiple MSE containers should be possible without restrictions.

The overall Modular Medical Facilities system consists of rescue stations, rescue centers, and field hospitals that are used in Bundeswehr deployment areas. Individual systems perform specific tasks, such as various medical imaging in this case. Treatment according to the German hospital standard is a necessary requirement within the container. The X-ray container, like all other parts of the MSE, is classified according to the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC), stackable, and therefore suitable for transport on container ships. The systems and their equipment are specifically adapted in terms of scope and functionality.
