An important breakthrough for the US Marine Corps (USMC) in integrating the RAFAEL Iron Dome ground launcher and Tamir interceptor missile into the MRIC (Medium-Range Intercept Capability) prototype of the Marine Corps with the USMC G/ATOR radar and the CAC2S combat management system.
A live fire test at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico has proven:
1. The USMC has Iron Dome defense capabilities
2. Iron Dome has been successfully integrated into the USMC architecture
3. The system performed exactly as predicted in a USMC simulation prior to the test.
“This demonstration proves that we now have a relevant capability,” said Don Kelley, GBAD program manager at PEO Land Systems, immediately after the successful test. „RAFAEL's systems have once again proven that they can seamlessly and optimally integrate into other defense systems,” said Brigadier General (Ret.) Pinhas Yungman, Executive Vice President and Head of the RAFAEL Air Defense Systems Directorate. “The Marine infantry live-fire test demonstrated that the combination of an Iron Dome ground missile and a Tamir interceptor with the radar system and combat management system of the Marine infantry was successful. This is an important and significant message for RAFAEL, for the Marines, and for other customers in the United States and international markets.”
