The Manta Strobe by Sandsprecision offers an interesting alternative to the traditional Strobe Lights. It falls between the MS-2000 and the VIP Light.
The Strobe is about half the size of an MS-2000, but is supposed to be brighter than the small VIP Light. It emits visible green or IR light optionally.
The Manta is operated with the help of three buttons, allowing to switch modes by simultaneously pressing the small front buttons, while the rear push button is for turning it on and off. The built-in Vibra function is of interest, so you know whether you have turned on the light even in IR mode.
The Strobe is currently available in 2 generations, which differ slightly from each other. Gen2 has a stronger plastic housing, but without a logo. The IR LEDs are also different. The transition from the metallic end cap of Gen1 to a shorter plastic cap in Gen2 is visually the easiest to spot.
The Manta is streamlined to avoid any potential tangling of cables or (parachute) lines. At the bottom, the Strobe has a slight curvature, allowing it to have the maximum contact surface when mounted on a helmet. Overall, a good concept that you will surely find on many helmets in the future.
