LYNX BRUTALITY 2023: Day 2 - What relief?

The LYNX BRUTALITY 2023 event was intense, with participants facing various challenges in each stage. From Steel Overload to HEAVY BALANCE and CARMAGEDON, the competition was grueling. After the tough stages, participants enjoyed the Gun-Expo with great food and beverages, followed by a raffle with prizes worth 30,000 Euros. Finally, the award ceremony celebrated the winners, making it a memorable event for all involved.

We attended the LYNX BRUTALITY 2023 event. This is the second part of our report: The first day of LYNX BRUTALITY has left its mark. Everything is dirty and dusty. We left a bit early the day before to clean our weapons. A challenge of Brutality is also not to shoot away with beer after the stages. Unfortunately, one of our team members fell victim to this, and was not fit enough the next day.

We start at the same time as the day before, with five new stages awaiting the participants. For us from Squad 3, this was the following:

Steel Overload - sponsored by Sellier & Bellot

When the timer signal sounds, you must first break open a steel door with a battering ram. Then a short sprint to the next room where various targets were already waiting.

Upon entering the room, you have to shoot ten shots at a paper target. After emptying the rifle, you have to let it hang on the sling and switch to the pistol to shoot the two Texas Stars on the left. Here, you were only allowed to hit black steel plates. Each hit on white brings +60 seconds of penalty time. Then back to the rifle on the paper target and then back to the pistol on the Polish Plate Rack. The end is done again with the rifle.

Demolition Man - sponsored by CZ

In Demolition Man, the shooter starts in the passenger seat. Both feet are not allowed to touch the ground. At the start, you have to run to a stack of tires and shoot ten shots at a paper target. Then to the car, get the tripod. Another ten shots, run again, and get the mounting plate. The finale was the rocket launcher, followed again by ten shots.

The constant running combined with quickly shooting at a target makes it a bit tricky. Additionally, there is a No-Shoot area again. Each miss also brings penalty seconds. Once the rocket launcher was set up and the last series fired, the shooter has to bring everything back to the car again.

After loading up, run back to the passenger seat and shoot at a steel target with the pistol, which is about 15-20 meters away.

Flashbanger - sponsored by Bul Armory

It starts with a bang. A flashbang from TAGinn is thrown into the tent. Either you wait for it to explode or enter beforehand at your own risk. Once inside, the shooter has to hit two targets, each with a No-Shoot Zone underneath. The tricky part was that the pavilion had window film that distorted the image. You have to make four shots on each target. First with both hands, then one-handed each, and finally again with both hands. Between each hand switch, the shooter also had to briefly carry filled ammunition crates. When shooting one-handed, you also had to hold one of the two crates constantly in your hand while shooting.

HEAVY BALANCE - sponsored by Magpul

A balancing act! Three 15-kilogram sandbags are waiting for you. The applicant must transport these to the other side via a slackline, over which a support rope was stretched. However, this also gave way quite a bit. Once on the other side, the shooter had to place the sandbags in a marked area and then shoot at six steel targets from a shooting loophole, which were about 50 meters away. Then it was back over the rope to get the next sandbag, until all of them were on the other side.

The right technique - not only in carrying the sandbags, but also in placing them in the designated area - as well as shooting through the barricade, were key to success. Once the shooter had completed the last round and hit all the steel targets with the rifle, it was time to switch to the pistol to hit five more small steel targets.

CARMAGEDON – sponsored by Meprolight

The most difficult stage of the entire Brutality: Carmagedon. The starting position is as follows: the rifle is loaded and placed on the driver's seat in a wooden box, and the shooter stands next to the front tire. Upon the signal, the shooter can grab the rifle. Now, they had to shoot from the hood/windshield, through the driver's window and past the trunk, at steel targets that were 100 meters away, hitting a total of four shots. Once this was achieved, the shooter had to push the car to the other side.

On the gravel, with various small hills, this was not so easy. Once on the other side, the shooter had to go through the process again. Thus, hitting twelve shots. But before pushing the car back to the other side, it was time for the grenade launcher.

Therefore, open the trunk, take out the grenade launcher. Insert a grenade making sure it is correctly aligned with the fields and grooves, otherwise it will fly somewhere else. Now, using the flip-up sight, the shooter must hit a tank painted on a wooden wall, located about 45 meters away. If the shooter succeeds, there will be a -60 seconds deduction from the total time.

The car had to be pushed three times in total. Therefore, a total of 48 hits were required to complete the stage within 180 seconds. This was not achievable for many. Only a handful of people managed to do it, and they deserve the highest respect!

For us from Squad 3, this was the last of the ten stages - and thus the BRUTALITY was over.

After the hardships, we headed up to the parking lot, changed clothes, dropped off our gear, and continued to the Gun-Expo. Besides a large screen showing the live stream, there was also excellent catering. Pizza, burgers, cevapcici were some of the menu items, priced at around 8 euros. Beers were available for 2.50 euros, making these prices far from those of fairs or other events. It was pleasing, as it allowed us to refuel and prevent dehydration.

Everyone who had already visited the exhibitors the day before quickly gathered around the raffle table.

Anyone who participated in BRUTALITY was automatically entered into the raffle, regardless of their placement. Participants were called up one by one at random and were able to choose a prize from the table. In total, there was a value of 30,000 Euros worth of prizes waiting for the participants. Highlights included a rifle and a Hugo pistol from SCHMEISSER, pistols from CZ (Shadow), BULL, and AREX. Thousands of rounds of ammunition in .223, .308, and 9mm from SELLIER & BELLOT. HELIKON-TEX with range bags and vouchers. A huge amount of various gun accessories from BROWNELLS and MAGPUL. Gear from VARUSTELEKA and much more. There was more than enough for everyone, so every participant could win and choose something for themselves. We find it to be a great system.

Afterwards, there was the award ceremony. At this point, we congratulate Martin from IMPACT AUSTRIA on third place in the Armored Division! We don't want to give too much away, as he will surely cover it in a video with Stefan from SAPIENS PARA BELLUM.

And I myself, was the lucky winner of the Open Division. - The SPARTANAT editorial team congratulates you! We are proud of you 😉

We will also provide a conclusion and a short report on the equipment used in the coming days.
