LYNX BRUTALITY 2022: The First Day

06/16/2022By Redaktion

It's starting - Day 1 is breaking. Around 80 participants were divided into four squads in the morning and four squads in the afternoon. Each squad has about ten participants. If, like us, you were in the morning, you could drive there early in the morning. The range was not difficult to find and the staff showed the shooters where to park.

Change clothes, pack up and head to registration at the range itself. You already pass by the shooting range above and can take a first look at the stages. The tower catches the eye and will be used later.

Once at the bottom, personal details are checked again and then the shooter receives his Swag Bag, which of course includes Lynx Brutality Shirt and Patch.

Until everyone is ready, it's a good idea to load up your magazines right away.

Of course, one also inspects the other participants and some clothing choices are quite noticeable. By the way, the right foot belongs to Gun Jesus himself, Ian.

Ziga then asks for attention, and the welcome speech follows, as well as safety instructions. Very important for the day - Mandatory Fun!

WEIGHTS EXTRACTION

Right after the briefing, we go to our first station. Before we start, there is also a safety briefing here, as well as an explanation of what to do. Note the sandbags at the bottom right.

Through a barricade, six targets must be hit. Once all six are done, grab a sandbag and run uphill and drop the sandbag behind a marked line. Then go back down and to the next white marked hole.

To make it a little more difficult, the barricade was placed behind some bushes, so you don't always have a clear view. This repeats until all three sandbags are placed at the top and you have hit the targets through four openings.

At all stages, you have 3 minutes to complete them. After the barricade, you run to a marked point and now have to hit small steel targets with the pistol. Each target not hit at the end brings a penalty time of 60 seconds.

Already at the first stage, an IPSC holster broke. Colleagues tried to help the participant further with field repair.

KASADRA DRILL

Now came the already announced Kasadra Drill. Starting from the starting point, a steel target must be hit twice at 150 meters. Then you are allowed to throw the 24-kilogram kettlebell, and depending on where it lands, you must shoot from there back to the target. If the kettlebell is above the end mark, it means unloading the magazine and scoring a bonus hit with the last shot in the barrel if you hit. Bonus hits deduct 60 seconds from the time.

But the stage is not over yet. Again, you have 3 minutes to complete it. Thus you must continue walking along the stage until the mark. There, load the pistol and more steel targets await. If you hit one, it falls down and the whole structure moves.

FAST ROPE

Next was the Fast Rope Stage. Here, the participant had to abseil from the tower from the first floor and run to a table to hit two targets with the rifle. Then you had to grab two ammo boxes and carry them back up the tower again to abseil once more. Repeat until there were no more ammo boxes, then head around the corner to the pistol.

Upon arrival, the shooter had to stand at the barricade to the right of the picture and shoot at the steel targets again, provided there was enough time left.

HANDGUN ROPE

The last stage of the day focused only on the pistol. It started by pulling a tire towards you via a rope to then lay it on a pallet. Then you were allowed to shoot, alternating between two steel targets until a total of four hits were achieved. Then pull and lay down another tire.

There were a total of four tires to pull and stack. After each tire, you had to change the stance. First, both hands, then strong hand, weak hand, and finally both hands again. It paid off to have one or two extra pistol magazines with you.

The first four stages of the Lynx Brutality for the day were over, and you could already feel the fitness levels of the participants. Some rushed through almost effortlessly, while others struggled with the physical exertion. Accuracy in shooting was a good way to compensate for this.

Now, a well-deserved beer awaited the participants, and they could take the opportunity to visit the trade fair.

There were a variety of weapons to admire. Arex enticed with a nice setup and was present with all their current pistols.

Optics Trade displayed some RMRs, as well as LPVOs here. During the stages, one quickly noticed where perhaps some limits of the optics are, especially when one has to stop in an unusual way and has problems with eye relief. It was therefore advisable to look for alternatives.

Lynx Pro also presented their adventure program, of course. You don't just have to come for Brutality.

At Polenar, you could get an overview of what the shop has to offer. Patches, shirts, but also high-quality magazine pouches, magazines from Oberland Arms, and M-Lok covers from Slate Grips, which are new in the lineup.

That's it from the first day, and we're already looking forward to the second! More tomorrow!
