Airfield security was the actual "founding mission" of the Air Force Security Troop, originally against Spetsnaz, because there was a fear that asymmetric attacks could occur on the sensitive facilities of the Air Force. Therefore, training in the same area, forming hunter commandos and tracking enemy forces.
During operations, the Air Force Security Troop is involved in object protection (but not Main Gate operations, rather perimeter protection around the field camp), securing field hunters (i.e. force protection), sometimes also personal protection when no Close Protection Team of the field hunter is necessary, cooperation with the civilian population through the "Village Sergeant" system. Each group is assigned a village in the operating area, which they take care of, speak with the leader, possibly offer means via CIMIC, or simply request and bring water tanks, wood, benches, tables, etc. from other units.
And ultimately probably the most exciting: Personnel Recovery, not quite as cool as the equivalents of the USAF, since no one has parachute training, but at least with Black Hawks and with training support from US SOF. There is also a Bundeswehr video that can be seen HERE.
Special thanks to Hellsing-Dundee for the pictures and report!
