As part of the IWA OutdoorClassics 2026, the IWA Knife Award was once again presented. This has been awarded annually since 2023 at the fair. A total of 63 knives were submitted in the categories of "EDC Folding Knives" and "EDC Knives Fixed Blade". In the category of fixed blade EDC knives ("EDC Knives Fixed Blade"), HALFBREED BLADES (HBB) took second place with the LFK-03 (Little Field Knife). The LFK-03  is a robust and compact knife with a fixed blade. It is designed for tactical use, everyday carry (EDC), and survival use, and is often referred to as an "indestructible" backup tool.

The LFK-03 (Little Field Knife)  has an overall length of 170 mm and weighs 156 g. It is a compact drop-point knife with a full tang, designed as a "compromise" between a folding knife and a large survival knife.

The 70 mm long blade is a modified drop-point blade made from 6 mm thick Böhler K340 tool steel with a hardness of 59 to 60 HRC. The high-performance Austrian tool steel K340 is known for its extreme durability and edge retention. However, it is difficult to sharpen and is designed to withstand the toughest demands and heavy tasks.

The jimping on the spine of the blade ensures a good grip.

The smoothly polished edge ensures razor-sharp performance and easy maintenance. The corrosion-resistant Teflon coating reduces reflections and friction.

The comfort features include textured G10 handle scales that fully enclose the tang. The integrated glass breaker pommel, designed for emergency use, features a lanyard hole for added versatility.

The handle scales are machined with a bevel to ensure good grip and secure handling. They are suitable for various hand sizes, can be used with gloves, and are secured with steel Torx fasteners.

The ambidextrous Kydex sheath of the LFK-03 comes with a Safe Lock belt attachment from DOTS USA. The belt attachment is designed for a maximum width of 50 mm.

The LFK-03 Kydex sheath from Hardcore Hardware Australia is an extremely durable and ambidextrous system.

A friction lock system holds the LFK-03 securely in the sheath.

The Kydex sheath keeps the knife securely in place.

Due to its compact size, it is easy to carry – as a "backup" or in limited space, such as on a vest or plate carrier. The Kydex sheath can be outfitted with other attachment options, as it has existing holes. Possible mounting options include UltiClip and MOLLE clips.

The LFK has a variety of different handle styles.

CONCLUSION

The LFK-03 (Little Field Knife) from HALFBREED BLADES (HBB) is ideally suited as a backup and EDC knife in terms of size and weight. It is made of D2 steel, 6 mm thick, and coated for abrasion resistance. The G10 handle scales are ergonomically shaped and provide a secure grip. This small, compact knife has not achieved second place for nothing, as it is very practical and versatile in use.

The "Little Field Knife" is available in four different blade versions. Options include a claw blade with and without serrations, as well as the drop-point and tanto blade. The model LFK-03 was originally marketed by HARDCORE HARDWARE AUSTRALIA. Newer generations can now be found under the brand  HALFBREED BLADES (HBB).

The LFK-03 (Little Field Knife) by HALFBREED BLADES (HBB)  is available here in the shop in black and dark earth colors for 250 Australian dollars. With European dealers that carry the brand, it costs 229 euros.
