A disaster rarely comes alone, and if you want to consider everything that can happen, then you're a prepper (HERE is a story from BUSHCRAFT.AT, explaining what a prepper actually is). It's a bit like crisis preparation and civil defense, but also involves paranoia and personal militancy, with a strong touch of equipment fetishism. You can find all of this in the current K-ISOM special issue "Prepper - Survive and Breakthrough."
Every beginning is difficult, but the worldly prepper is prepared. Gun and gear, that's how it starts in a suddenly hostile world, with the TV in the shopping cart. Is it broken? Doesn't matter. It can only get better, and those who give up hope are defeatists...
Fear is present. Terror, pandemic, war, and climate catastrophe - there's already a lot to prep for. For example, Ebola is a real challenge that is currently ongoing (HERE's what the Marine Corps preppers have to say about it). Bird flu will surely resurface...
Survival was yesterday, prepping is tomorrow. It happens in the city, as we are all mostly city dwellers and therefore have specific survival problems. One issue with the magazine is that only the pictures are large. For survival kits for people with difficulty reading small print, a ruler (to hold the line in case it's too long) and a magnifying glass (which makes everything larger; you can also use it to start a fire in case of emergency) would be necessary. Be prepared!
The special issue "Prepper" features very nicely illustrated equipment lists. Sometimes a bit more information could be included, but looking at gear, guns, knives, and mobility is still fun.
Orientation is always a challenge. Practical tips are always helpful. It can be particularly difficult to orient yourself when the gas mask is fogging up from the inside.
First aid is equally important. For example, the article comes from the competent Jerry Mayer of Tactical Responder.
Overall, the magazine shines with a variety of good articles that are exciting to read. Those who enjoy looking will also be satisfied, as the K-ISOM special is a picture book for every equipment fetishist. Overall, it's an exciting read, keeping you entertained until the next catastrophe arrives.
K-ISOM Special "Prepper!" has 114 pages and costs Euro 9.90. It is available in well-stocked magazine shops. You can also order the magazine directly from the publisher.
