Led by experienced instructor Jerry Mayer, the program offers realistic training based on medical guidelines and operational experiences. It caters to a wide range of participants, not just special forces, and focuses on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) for superior casualty care in armed conflicts. The unique training approach has set a new standard in the industry, emphasizing operational competence through scenario-based training. Visit www.tacticalresponder.eu for more information.
First aid is bandage and Red Cross. Tactical Responder, on the other hand, is tough in emergencies and teaches first aid as it happens under the most adverse conditions and full pressure. We at SPARTANAT asked Jerry Mayer from Tactical Responder to explain what he does and with whom.
SPARTANAT: What is Tactical Responder and what can it do?
Jerry Mayer: It is a brand under which various training courses in the field of tactical emergency care are carried out. A lot of emphasis is placed on realistic training, which is also scientifically based. All "why" questions are answered based on medical guidelines and current operational experiences.
SPARTANAT: Who can come to you for training? Only special forces?
Jerry Mayer: No! The only requirement is: participants must be 18 years old at the beginning of the training. There have already been participants from special units, but soldiers from various units have also been participants. The same applies to police colleagues. Employees of civilian security organizations have also been trained as Tactical Responders. I have welcomed doctors for training as well as paramedics and medics.
SPARTANAT: What is TCCC, can you explain it briefly? Why is it superior to other concepts of first aid?
Jerry Mayer: Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) is a care concept designed for casualty care in armed conflicts, taking into account tactical considerations. It emerged around 1996. The US armed forces, after the mission in Somalia (Black Hawk Down), realized that casualty care in armed operations is completely different from caring for casualties in emergency medical services. The medic needs specific care approaches that take into account tactical conditions as well as the specifics of penetrating trauma caused by gunshot or shrapnel injuries. Since it meets the conditions in armed operations and specific injury patterns, it is superior to the traditional approach of civilian emergency services.
SPARTANAT: What can one expect when coming to you for training?
Jerry Mayer: 1. A very well planned and thought-out training. 2. An instructor who has experienced military as well as civilian experiences in crisis areas and is unique in his qualifications. 3. The content of the training is current and reflects the latest scientific knowledge. It's not just copied... 4. Scenarios / situation training that increase the participant's operational competence through the use of casualty actors and firearms. 5. Fun during training!
SPARTANAT: What do you think about the development that there are attempts to copy your type of training?
Jerry Mayer: This shows that my concept has been right since 2007. With high quality, personal commitment, and solid training, Tactical Responder training has stood out from the beginning. The fact that it is now being directly copied shows how innovative the concept is. It has changed the training market in Germany, and everyone knows that a copy never reaches the class and quality of the original. There is much more to a TR training than just pyrotechnics, casualty actors, and tourniquets.
I can definitively say: I have experiences and qualifications that cannot be copied and make the fine difference. Which training instructor combines international qualifications with experience as a medic in the special forces of the Bundeswehr, combined with years of experience in the civilian high-risk security sector with a focus on Iraq? Which training instructor links experience in remote medicine in remote regions of Kurdistan and experience as an offshore medic in the North Sea? In Germany only one...
I take every attempt to copy Tactical Responder as a compliment. The plagiarist simply cannot find their own solution and tries to adopt this concept. Innovative is different. It's good to know that Tactical Responder is the original and I still want to implement many excellent ideas in the future. From a medic to medics! See you in August at the "Original" Tactical Responder!
JERRY MAYER is the training instructor for Tactical Responder training and has been offering high-quality training in the field of tactical emergency care since 2007. As a former KdoFwSan (Medic) of the Special Forces Command of the Bundeswehr and holder of various US qualifications, including the 18D Special Forces Medical Sergeants Course, the US Army Flight Medic Course, and the Tactical Paramedic according to BCCTPC, he has unique qualifications in Germany. This is complemented by operational experience from both the public and civilian security sectors. As someone who works in tactical emergency care, he places great value on a holistic training that reflects the reality and uniqueness of tactical emergency care. As a result of these high standards, the Tactical Responder Live Fire training was created. Its aim is to bring the correct tactical and medical procedures in tactical emergency care closer to the participant. The goal is to significantly increase the operational competence of each participant.
