Parachutists are not born – contrary to rumors. They are made. No, not by the STEINADLER, who can already fly, but rather by the Austrian gear shop STEINADLER in collaboration with the International Military Airborne Training School (IMATS), which offers courses for anyone who wants to experience the feeling of jumping out into the air and truly letting themselves fall. With a parachute, of course. As a reward, participants receive coveted Wings, parachute jump badges from different countries, which are earned through corresponding achievements.
The parachute jumper courses are organized by IMATS. This school offers the opportunity for all interested individuals – whether you already have jumping experience or are complete beginners – to make jumps in an international environment. Several times a year, IMATS offers basic courses for military round canopy jumps as well as a comprehensive freefall training.
The drop zone for this is the Siófok-Kiliti Airport in Lake Balaton, Hungary. The models SF10A and MC1-D (both U.S. types) parachutes are used, as well as T10R reserve chutes. The Mil Mi 8 jump helicopter serves as the drop aircraft.
In order to give participants the opportunity to improve their skills with various parachutes, the school utilizes its connections to frequently invite international military jumpmasters to provide additional training. These trainers bring parachutes used in their respective armies, pass on their know-how, and enable students to earn jump badges from foreign armies.
The following badges can regularly be earned at IMATS:
Here are the expected jump dates for 2015 – subject to possible changes. Registration must be completed at least 2 weeks before the jump date, last-minute registrations are possible upon request depending on availability.
