Compensator? Yes, which one?

Jeremy from TTAG tested 35 AR system compensators for recoil reduction. While the results are informative, other factors like muzzle rise and flash were not considered. Factors like barrel length and gas port size can also affect performance. Overall, the test provides valuable insight under controlled conditions.

Jeremy from The Truth about Guns (TTAG) has tested the recoil reduction of 35 compensators for the AR system. The test is interesting and informative, however, when studying the results, one should not forget that the compensator with the most recoil reduction is not necessarily the best compensator for an individual. As Jeremy pointed out, factors such as muzzle rise, muzzle flash, and lateral shockwave were not part of this test. There are also additional variables that can influence the performance of a compensator, especially anything that changes how much pressure the gases arrive at the compensator (e.g. barrel length, powder/burn rate, gas port size, adjustable gas block, ...). Still, it's a great test that evaluates various products under comparable conditions (same weapon, same factory ammunition, gas block fully closed, ...).
