KMW weapon station: This is the police speaking.

The German Federal Police equips its protected vehicles with remotely controlled Light Weapon Stations of the FLW 100 type from Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). The contract that has now been closed comprises a total of 42 weapon stations. Of these, 21 FLW 100 will be delivered to the Federal Police by mid-2019. The remaining weapon stations are an option tied to the procurement and introduction of an additional 21 special vehicles for the Federal Police, which will be activated by mid-2019 at the latest.

The vehicles equipped with the FLW 100 are primarily intended for securing airports. The FLW 100 can: Modular optronic sensor systems ensure optimal situational awareness, identification, and reconnaissance in daylight, nighttime, and poor visibility conditions. In addition to a high-resolution CCD color camera with zoom, a powerful thermal imaging device (cooled or uncooled), a novel fusion imaging function, and a laser rangefinder are part of the modular observation, control, and display concept of the weapon stations. Due to its easy adaptation without the need for roof penetration and its low weight, the FLW 100 can be used on almost all types of vehicles. The Bundeswehr has already introduced over 1000 FLWs.
