KMW: Protected cabins for the Bundeswehr

Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) has been commissioned by IVECO Defence Vehicles S.p.A. to produce the driver cabins for the protected transport vehicles GTF2 based on the IVECO Trakker. In total, the order includes a production volume of 224 protected driver cabins with an option for an additional 824 truck cabins.

KMW is responsible for the design and welding of the driver cabins as well as their assembly, which includes the electrical equipment. The first 224 cabins will be completed by 2024. The introduction of all 1,048 systems will be completed by 2029. KMW is the world leader in highly protected driver cabins. In addition to the German Bundeswehr, other users of the internally developed safety cells include the armies of Britain, Switzerland, and the Norwegian Armed Forces. In total, KMW has delivered comprehensive protection equipment for more than 700 cabins of different truck manufacturers.
