The leading developer and manufacturer of military robotic ground systems in Europe, Milrem Robotics, and the German system house for combat tanks and combat systems Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The contract involves a 24.9% minority stake of KMW in Milrem Robotics.
MILREM will remain an independent company. Both manufacturers announced that they will work closely on the development of the European Center of Excellence for Military Robotics in Estonia. The aim is to develop innovative solutions for future military mission solutions through the integration of manned and unmanned systems by pooling the expertise and capabilities of both companies.
“We aim to become the European competence center for unmanned technology and robotic innovations. The partnership with KMW enables further innovations for future products and services, particularly in the area of teaming manned and unmanned systems and sensor-to-shooter solutions,” emphasizes Kuldar Väärsi, founder and CEO of Milrem Robotics. “KMW as the European leader in land systems and MILREM as the European leader in unmanned land systems complement each other perfectly. Our collaboration gives us the opportunity to work on innovative and new solutions that will shape the future of the defense industry. Furthermore, further synergies of this collaboration are expected in the context of KNDS,” adds Horst Rieder, CFO of KMW. KMW's goal in this cooperation is to integrate modern leading robotics into KMW's technology systems. HERE we introduced MILREM Robotics.
