A new assault rifle was unveiled at the 15th IPAS exhibition in Tehran, featuring both 7.62x39mm and 5.56x45mm versions. Details are sparse, but the design hints at a piston system and draws inspiration from AR and AK/Galil systems. Its target market and functionality remain unknown.
At the 15th IPAS exhibition in Tehran, a new assault rifle was spotted. There appears to be a 7.62x39mm version (on the right with a strongly curved magazine) and a 5.56x45mm version (on the left). Otherwise, no details are known. The front gas block looks adjustable and could be a hint of a piston system. The shoulder stock, charging handle, and dust cover look like those of the AR system. The magazines resemble AK (7.62x39) or Galil (5.56x45). It is not clear whether the weapon is intended to be acquired by the Iranian military or police. Possibly, the design is also aimed at a potential export market, should the sanctions be lifted. We hope that the weapon functions better than the trigger discipline...
