SAKO Arctic Rifle Generation (ARG) rifles are purpose-built for northern environments and the defense of the Arctic region. Developed in collaboration with the Swedish and Finnish Defense Forces, the rifles are specifically engineered for Arctic conditions and tested according to NATO D14 standards. The rifles are based on the well-known AR-15 platform, with enhancements to improve reliability, handling characteristics and operational performance in challenging conditions. They could also become the successors to the current Finnish assault rifle.
The SAKO ARG is offered in three Variants with two distinct operating systems: short-stroke gas piston and direct impingement. The gas piston (GP) system is ideal for harsh environments, ensuring reliable performance even with minimal maintenance. On the other hand, the direct impingement (DI) system is perfect for standard operational environments, providing a lighter and more streamlined design.
The Variants are the ARG 40 GP, the ARG 50 GP and the ARG 40 DI. The ARG 50 has a 16" barrel and the ARG 40s are available with barrel length between 11.5" and 16". Sadly, the ARG rifles are not available to the civilian market. This platform is solely part of the Military and Law Enforcement firearms portfolio from SAKO.
