INTERVIEW: House visit with Kingshot/Spartac

In Germany, there are actually only two (at least, known to us) points of contact when it comes to special AR15, exclusive accessories, and custom projects: one is Horner Arms. They focus on hunting and sports weapons as well as the custom building of firearms.

Kingshot or Spartac, on the other hand, focus on the business with authorities and the import of complete weapon systems from the USA. Recently, the owner also opened a store, and we were "On Tour" again: we stopped by Spartac and interviewed him quickly. SPARTANAT: Hello Christian, please introduce yourself briefly to our readers.

Kingshot/Spartac: Hello dear readers of SPARTANAT, my name is Christian Grunewald, and I am the managing director of Kingshot/Spartac.

SPARTANAT: Kingshot? Spartac? Two names?

Kingshot/Spartac: It all started with Kingshot. A friend of mine had opened a computer shop named "King" back then, so I thought Kingshot would fit well. I later added the name Spartac for the business with authorities to create a separation. Spartac is composed of "Sparta" and "Tactical."

SPARTANAT: So we're quite similar in terms of naming. How did it all start with the business?

Kingshot/Spartac: I founded the business in 2008, primarily out of personal need to import US-made parts for the AR15. In 2010, I added the firearms trading license and thus the import of complete weapons. Since I live in close proximity to some authorities, the business with authorities was added in 2013. Gradually, I expanded the focus on the American market in the shop and maintain good relationships with some manufacturers and dealers on the other side of the pond.

SPARTANAT: Since last year, you also have a store where we currently are. What are the focal points or which brands/products do you offer?

Kingshot/Spartac: Let's start with the weapons. I specialize in AR15 and AR15 clones. Complete systems from the custom sector are possible, and I have a gunsmith nearby who builds the weapons in cooperation. I stock attachment and tuning parts from BCM, Geissele, Midwest Industries, Magpul, Rainier Arms, Fortis, Daniel Defense, and many others.

I have complete AR15s from Rainier Arms and BCM (currently only for hunting license holders in Germany - but sport versions are also planned).

In the near future, complete systems from Geissele will also be added; I have the exclusive distribution for this company in Germany.

SPARTANAT: And for the authorities?

Kingshot/Spartac: Here I have some firearms from Daniel Defense in stock.

SPARTANAT: Do you only have US systems?

Kingshot/Spartac: No, of course, you can also purchase the usual suspects from Oberland Arms, SIG, and Heckler & Koch at my store.

SPARTANAT: The focus has mainly been on .223/5.56 caliber weapons until now. Do you offer heavier equipment as well?

Kingshot/Spartac: In the .308 range and beyond, we offer weapons from SIG, Patriot Ordnance, Heckler & Koch, SIG, and Barrett. Additionally, I have a cooperation with Waffen Burk from Heilbronn, who produces a very sophisticated .308 semi-automatic rifle - the BR10.

SPARTANAT: That's a very interesting weapon! We were able to see it at your booth at IWA this year. It's a weapon we also plan to feature in detail soon.

Kingshot/Spartac: Absolutely!

SPARTANAT: What about handguns?

Kingshot/Spartac: When it comes to handguns, I primarily deal with Glock and pistols from FN Herstal.

SPARTANAT: What else can one buy from you?

Kingshot/Spartac: Everything from the tactical sector: holsters from G-Code, bags and equipment from 5.11, Helikon/Direct Action, and Haley Strategic Partners, and clothing from UF-Pro.

Of course, I also have plate carriers and the matching protective equipment.

I also offer optics - at our store, you can find Holosun, Burris, and Browe.

For the authorities, there are laser-light modules from Streamlight and Viridian.

SPARTANAT: We will extensively test the Browe optics in the coming weeks and then introduce them on SPARTANAT.
