Kagan Dunlap:

Information Warfare

08/15/2025By Lawrence

Colonel Adam Bryson is a US Marine Corps Communications Officer by trade and works in the Office of The Deputy Commandant for Information Warfare and is the guest in Kagan Dunlap's podcast. He provides excellent descriptions of this type of warfare and gives examples of targeted misinformation.

Information warfare (IW) is the use of information and communication technology to gain an advantage over an opponent. It involves actions to deny, exploit, corrupt, or destroy an enemy's information, while protecting one's own information and exploiting the enemy's. IW is different from cyberwarfare, which targets computers, software, and command control systems - IW targets information itself.
