More Kalashnikovs for the world: India has decided to acquire 600,000 AK-203. The weapons will initially come from Russia, but after the first 20,000 pieces, they will be built in India by an Indo-Russian joint venture. The 7.62×39 weapon will replace the old INSAS rifle of the Indian Army. And probably also the interim SIG Sauer weapons that were procured. India has had a rather cumbersome procurement history as a country - until the current decision. The contract was signed during President Putin's state visit on December 6.
The Kalashnikov Group presents the AK-203 assault rifle, for which export permission was recently granted. The assault rifle has a folding and adjustable rear stock, an ergonomic pistol grip, and a selector with additional trigger finger levers. Picatinny rails are located on the upper and lower handguards. Birdcage-type hybrid flash hider with compensator features. The AK-203 assault rifle is currently used by Russian special forces.
