The film adaptation of "All Quiet on the Western Front" is Germany's entry for the Oscars. The NETFLIX production beat out eight other films in the pre-selection process.
"All Quiet on the Western Front" is competing as the German candidate for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. This decision was made by a jury of nine members, including chair Maria Furtwängler (55), as German Films announced. Directed by Edward Berger (*1970), the NETFLIX film is the first German adaptation of the anti-war novel "All Quiet on the Western Front" (1928) by Erich Maria Remarque (1898-1970). The 1930 American film adaptation of the novel received two Oscars at the Academy Awards.
