The company IEA MIL-OPTICS GmbH, based in Nagold, Baden-Württemberg, is a specialist in night vision technology and special equipment for police and military special forces. To meet the latest customer requirements in the area of "ability to counter small drones", the product range is being expanded to include the "Smash" fire control systems from Smart Shooter.

The Smash system combines electro-optical hardware with embedded image recognition software and a ballistic computer. The system can be used for day and night combat and offers various modes: drone mode, target recognition, lock & track, recording (photo, video) - e.g. for training debriefings or legal purposes. The system assists with position stabilization, can be used against static and dynamic targets, and helps the shooter clearly locate targets against different backgrounds. Furthermore, it can detect and track drones.

The fire control system is available in different versions. The latest version, "Smash X4", combines an optical rifle scope with 4x magnification with the fire control capabilities of Smart Shooter. This provides the shooter with extended range detection and identification capabilities to counter threats at greater distances. The device is already in use by the German Bundeswehr and more are being procured.

In addition to the Smash X4, other variants such as Smash 3000 or Smash AD are introduced in large quantities to NATO partners in Europe and the USA as "infantry drone defense."
