IDET 2019: The "improved" Thales IMBITR

06/13/2019By Redaktion

The MBITR radio or AN-PRC 148 is ubiquitous in the conflicts involving the USA, often used by the Special Forces. However, the black block does not necessarily have to be a classic MBITR anymore, as it has been around for quite a few years. The latest version from Thales is called IMBITR – an "improved" MBITR.

It looks like an MBITR with more antennas, but don't be fooled, it also has more functions than the MBITR. Since the technical specifications are very extensive, HERE is the link to Thales' detailed brochure. The short version, which can also be inferred from the look of the antennas: The GPS is waiting for application in the middle, with an antenna on the right and left. This allows the device to operate on different radio circuits, e.g. in the platoon and the second function goes to the company.
