HX81 articulated truck - major order for Rheinmetall

Rheinmetall has received a major order from an international customer for the delivery of military trucks. The order includes 110 logistics vehicles worth 134 million euros, which are expected to be delivered between January 2018 and February 2019. Additional vehicle orders are planned. The contract also includes extensive service and logistics support for a period of five years. The vehicles to be delivered are semitrailer trucks based on the successful and proven HX81 of Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV).

Unlike many other comparable vehicles, the HX family offered by Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles are Military-off-the-Shelf (MOTS) products. They combine proven and reliable mass-produced components with technology specifically designed for military needs to create custom military vehicles. Around 12,000 units are currently in operation worldwide. Users include countries like the United Kingdom, Denmark, and New Zealand. Australia, as well as Sweden and Norway, have already placed significant orders with RMMV. This provides logistical advantages for multinational military operations.

These trucks are designed from the outset for maximum robustness, payload, mobility, and off-road capability – with a target of at least 20 years of service life and a mileage of 300,000 km in military use. The HX family can be used according to STANAG standards in climate zones A1 to C2 – meaning temperatures ranging from -46°C to +49°C. They can also be adapted to any other climatic conditions. Additionally, passive and active protection solutions can be easily integrated without major modifications. New requirements and operational insights are consistently incorporated into further development.The HX family comes in variants from 4x4 to 10x10. Whether as a cargo vehicle, tanker, recovery vehicle, system carrier, fold road or bridge layer – anything is possible. The concept of vehicle family results in largely identical operation, maintenance, repair, and part interchangeability, leading to low life cycle costs.
