HOW TO: Yoke an ALICE-Frame

03/05/2013By Redaktion

In the picture above, a SEAL is seen with a very interesting backpack choice. He has strapped his Yote and the NAR-Squad-Kit onto an ALICE-Frame. We wanted to see how comfortable it is to carry and if it is easy to do. Find out the answer with us:

Short answer: Very comfortable and simple.

You only need an ALICE-Frame and a Yote or similar pack (e.g. LBT-2595). Whether the strapping is present on the frame or not doesn't matter. First, remove the shoulder straps from the Yote. Next, pass the attachment points from above over the spots where the straps are secured to the frame. Then thread the shoulder straps through the eyelets of the Yote and onto the frame. Secure the lower parts of the carrying straps to the designated eyelets on the ALICE frame. You can also use the classic ALICE straps.

To secure the backpack to the frame, we chose cable ties. It is also possible to attach the MOLLE system of the Yote to the cross. In our case, this was no longer possible because we removed it for better comfort of the backpack. For the hip belt, you can use the standard ALICE belt or, like us, take a leftover War Belt. Again, cable ties play a crucial role here.

The Yote-Mod is now complete. The NAR-Squad-Kit is simply strapped around the frame using the waist belt. The frame provides the backpack with an unexpectedly good rigidity, and many more pockets of all sizes can be attached. Have fun modding.
