HOW TO: Print your filter cover

04/07/2020By Redaktion

We really like the 3M half masks because you can attach all kinds of filters to them. Even when shooting indoors, a particulate filter is a good idea (think lead dust), but unfortunately the filter on the weapon side gets in the way. It would be great if you could skip a filter and cover the filter connection. So far we have used tank tape, but the guys from Forward Thinking Solutions have found a much more elegant solution, the CIP.

CIP stands for "Cover-Inhalation Port," which means "inlet cover" in German. And it does exactly what we are looking for for our mask. It seals a filter connection and you can easily bring your weapon into the shoulder.

Another advantage is that the shooter only needs one filter (in the picture a NIOSH P100), so you have twice as many filters available. Due to the current Corona situation, Forward Thinking Solutions have decided to provide their CIP as a 3D print file for free. Thank you, FTS! HERE you can download the file for non-commercial use for free.

The cover not only fits the 6000 series masks, but should fit almost all 3M half and full masks that have this type of bayonet connection. Now we just need a 3D printer.
