Every hand is different. The working principle is somehow always the same, but the construction is different, like snowflakes. This fact leads to the realization that what fits well in one hand may hold some room for improvement in another. This is especially true for pistol grips. Those from GLOCK, in particular, are very popular among shooters when discussing possibilities for improvement. Standard is good, personalized is better. The GLOCK 17 didn't fit perfectly in our hand, so: if it doesn't fit, make it fit.

Some companies offer this service for a fee, but if you are good at craftsmanship and can handle a grinder, you can try it yourself. The only tool you need is a multi-grinder with a sanding attachment.

This attachment is the perfect diameter for grinding out an undercut between the trigger guard and grip. In the image, we are holding it against an already modified GLOCK.

It's important to use both coarseness grades, starting with the rough one then the fine one. For those aiming for the highest quality, polishing can be done. It takes a long time, but yields very good results.

Before starting, a warning: This modification will void your warranty on the pistol. We just wanted to mention that. So grab a marker and outline the contour. Start grinding the polymer away slowly and carefully. Check regularly to ensure everything is ground evenly and not too thin. After about ten minutes of careful grinding, it should look like it does in the image.

When gripping the now ergonomically adapted grip, we noticed that our fingers land exactly on the bump of the finger groove. So we simply ground away the upper elevation. We left the lower one.

Lastly, a final touch-up with fine sandpaper. Once again, work slowly, calmly, and with control.

This is our final result. We are very satisfied with it, and the GLOCK 17 now feels like a completely different pistol. This modification works not only on GLOCKs but on all polymer grip pieces. So, happy crafting. As always, adhere to your country's laws regarding "modifications to the firearm."
