REVIEW:

IFAK Pouch Dual VL from TASMANIAN TIGER

10/20/2025By Hubert

Are you looking for a robust and versatile IFAK pouch? The IFAK Pouch Dual VL from TASMANIAN TIGER is made from durable materials, can be attached in many ways, and is very organized. The pouch stands out for its extreme adaptability and reliability both on a plate carrier and as a hip pouch. The handling of life-saving equipment has been optimized to ensure quick and easy transport as well as efficient provision.

The IFAK Pouch Dual VL comes with an adjustable hip belt, an SRRP connection piece made of Tegris, and a pouch. Additionally, a removable panel for the medical equipment is included.

The pouch has the following dimensions: 90 x 190 x 40 mm with a weight of 200 g. Regarding the material, Cordura 700 and Tegris were used. To meet the standards of the German Bundeswehr, the IFAK Pouch Dual VL IRR uses Cordura 500 in IRR.

This IFAK pouch features a panel that can be pulled out from both sides, enabling efficient and intuitive organization of medical equipment.

The IFAK Pouch Dual VL can be attached under a plate carrier using a removable connection piece made of a Tegris plate with Velcro. This SRPP connection piece (Tegris), which is usable on both sides and removable, means this IFAK can be attached to any plate carrier, making it an extremely versatile and useful tool.

The SRRP connection piece is hooked into the pre-cut laser slots of the pouch using the Tegris-made hook.

This is done with little effort and makes the IFAK Pouch Dual VL compatible with any plate carrier or chest rig – regardless of the manufacturer.

A simple and flexible system, deployable anywhere.

On the back of the pouch, there are four elastic attachment loops intended for securing chem lights. A pen can also be stored there. This is practical because it is always within reach.

In addition, the IFAK Pouch Dual VL has a Velcro surface on the front that allows attaching specific patches or markings to visually identify contents or specific mission areas. The patch is available here in our shop.

The laser-cut MOLLE/PALS slots on the back not only serve to attach the Tegris mount but also allow the TT pouch to be attached to a belt using MOLLE clips or similar.

There is another option, as the integrated hip belt allows the pouch to be used as a hip pouch. For people who are frequently mobile for various purposes and have to handle frequently changing requirements, this proves advantageous.

The attachment of the length-adjustable belt to the pouch is enabled by the so-called Snap Hook from Woojin Plastic.

A WJ closure serves for quick detachment of the pouch.

Converting to the "hip pouch" version doesn't take long. The WJ hooks are quickly inserted, and the SRRP connection piece can be easily removed.

The inner part with the IFAK can be pulled out in both directions via rubberized paracord grips.

The grips are large enough to be easily grasped even with gloves, such as tactical or large winter gloves.

The inner part for the medical equipment is equipped with a red-marked Velcro closure that enables opening and closing.

When fully unfolded, you can see three MOLLE/PALS rows made of loop Velcro as well as colored bungee cord with cord locks in laser-cut holes. The delivery also includes a long One-Wrap Velcro strip.

The provided One Wrap Velcro strip serves for individual attachment to the inside of the equipment.

Elastic cords and cord locks prevent the equipment from slipping during deployment.

On the back of the medical inner panel, there is a strip with hook Velcro. The counterpart, the loop Velcro, is located in the IFAK Pouch Dual VL and keeps the contents in place.

Laser-cut holes and MOLLE/PALS slots at the bottom allow attaching a tourniquet using bungee cord (not included) or an additional pouch.

The IFAK Pouch Dual VL is attached to the TASMANIAN TIGER Plate Carrier LP LC Frame. The kit has a very flat and comfortable profile.

CONCLUSION

The IFAK Pouch Dual VL from TASMANIAN TIGER is ideal for anyone who needs a versatile first aid pouch with quick access. Because it can be used both as a hip pouch and as a plate carrier pouch and features a pull-out inner pouch from both sides. The robust construction from Cordura 700 and the well-thought-out system with the reversibly usable Tegris plate are praised, while the limited internal capacity is criticized by some users.

We were able to equip the IFAK with hemostatic gauze, a Hoffman bandage, two decompression needles, two chest seals, an emergency blanket, some first aid gloves, a tube, and a marker pen (externally on the back).

All the equipment could be stowed in the IFAK Pouch Dual VL without any issues. There were no difficulties when pulling out or inserting the panel. Organization, preparation, and practice are the keys to success. An important chapter that Herman "Rosi" Rosenberg addresses right at the beginning of his book "1000 Soldier Tips". The book is available here in the shop.

The IFAK Pouch Dual VL from TASMANIAN TIGER is available in Olive, Coyote, Black, Multicam, and the IRR version starting at 55 EUR from all dealers carrying the brand, such as STEINADLER.
